ABT: Something to interest most readers

Cape Breton RailwaysThe latest edition of Atlantic Books Today will soon be in circulation, including reviews of Cape Breton Railways: An Illustrated History by Herb MacDonald (p. 41) and French Taste in Atlantic Canada by Anne Marie Lane Jonah and Chantal Véchambre (p. 31).

ABT‘s annual “Books for the Holidays” catalogue has been in circulation for a couple of weeks, describing approx. 150 new and inspiring Atlantic Canadian books for everyone.

The catalogue conveniently identifies titles available as e-books; a number of CBU Press books are now available as e-books from Kobo, Kindle and Apple iTunes.

“More than worthy” of nomination: review

A Possible MadnessWatch for a nice review of A Possible Madness in the Amherst Daily News Nov. 23. “…masterfully written … a compelling tale that is more than worthy of being short-listed for the IMPAC.”

Frank Macdonald’s novel has been longlisted for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, the richest literary prize of its kind. Macdonald’s first novel A Forest for Calum was also longlisted for the IMPAC.

Both novels are now available as e-books.

CBC launches “Page Turner Project” for grades 7,8,9

Philip_RoyThe  PAGE TURNER PROJECT is a chance for Cape Bretoners in junior high to attend a workshop with BEST-SELLING AUTHOR Philip Roy.

Who can enter? ANYONE IN GRADES 7, 8 or 9 on Cape Breton Island.

PHILIP ROY is the author of the best-selling adventure series Submarine Outlaw. His latest book is a historical fiction called Blood Brothers in Louisbourg, published by Cape Breton University Press. Macdonald’s second nomination for richest prize

Sydney, November 12, 2012 – Inverness writer Frank Macdonald’s novel A Possible Madness has been long-listed for the world’s richest literary prize for a single work.

This is Macdonald’s second nomination for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, the largest and most international prize of its kind. A Forest for Calum was long-listed for the 2007 IMPAC.
