Author interviews with A.J.B. Johnston now on-line
CBU Press has launched what is planned to be a series of interviews with a number of its authors. In the first such posting – a suite of four interviews – A.J.B. Johnston discusses a range of topics about his first novel Thomas, A Secret Life (CBU Press, 2012). With CBU Press’s Laura Bast, Johnston discusses the telling of history through fiction (his character Thomas Pichon (1700-1781) is a real person), the reimagining of Pichon, creating mood and atmosphere and writing about life in 18th-century France.
Johnston is an award-winning historian, the author of a dozen books and hundreds of articles primarily on 18th-century French colonial history. Thomas, A Secret Life is his first novel.
