Perspectives on Communities, a collection of essays, demonstrates CED as a process for handling change in creative and effective ways through community-based initiatives. CED activities can create and retain jobs, develop local enterprises, and enhance local self-reliance – especially among communities and groups that have been economically and socially disadvantaged. The essays cover various aspects of community-based development from structural and financial considerations to the role of education and information technology.
