As children, we all experience being transported by stories to another time, or another place. As adults, some of us look to stories to do more, to transform us. This is the power of stories. Stories are no longer just for entertainment. They are in part about self-creation and about survival in increasingly complex cultures. The authors of these essays in this volume describe how they used stories to achieve certain goals in their person, in their classroom or in their field of research.
