Michael Newton

MICHAEL NEWTON’s PhD is in Celtic Studies from the University of Edinburgh. He has written many articles about Scottish Gaelic tradition, culture, history and literature, in Scotland and in North America. He is the author of the best-selling The Naughty Little Book of Gaelic: All the Scottish Gaelic You Need to Curse, Swear, Drink, Smoke and Fool Around (CBU Press 2014). Michael has also written or edited several other books, including We’re Indians Sure Enough: The Legacy of Scottish Highlanders in the Unites States (2001), Calum and Catriona’s Welcome to the Highlands (2006), Warriors of the Word: The World of the Scottish Highlanders (2009) and Celts in the Americas (2013). In April 2014, Michael was recipient of the inaugural Saltire Award from the Scottish Heritage Centre, St. Andrews University, Laurinburg, NC.
