This is an anthology of nine short stories by Cape Breton authors about Cape Breton. Included are “The Burnt Forest” by the late R. J. MacSween, “Green Grow the Grasses O” by D. R. MacDonald, Sheldon Curries’ “The Glace Bay Miner’s Museum,” “An Underlying Reverence” by Angus MacDougall and Ellison Robertson’s “Prayers.” Also two stories by Joan Clark “God’s Country,” and “Her Father’s Daughter”; “Winter Dog” by Alistair MacLeod, Tessie Gillis’s “The Innocent” and “Events” by Beatrice MacNeil. Dr. Taylor has included an introduction to each story as well as students of Canadian Literature. The cover design by Ellison Robertson is based on “Winter Dog” by Alistair MacLeod.
